The DungeonBowl has been played in the dark dungeons under the World Edge Mountains for so many years that nobody can even remember. Funnily enough, even though it is sponsored by the powerful Colleges of Magic, where the brightest minds of the Empire are sent to control the powerful forces of the arcane arts, nobody thought of keeping a record either. Nerds, huh?
The DungeonBowl was initially played on a maze of catacombs, with exploding chests and all sort of strange rules only very bright minds that procrastinate when they have lots to do can come up with. When the ÑAF was re-founded, its popularity brought the new High Commisioner to purchase the rights and create a mirror tournament to the Chaos Cup for NFC teams. He kept the name for marketing reason, even if the games are not really played in a dungeon any more. The Darkside Cowboys won the first Dungeonbowl in their own turf, bridging the gaps between the old and new format as their home stadium is actually in a dungeon. Many Avenger supporters claimed the final to be rigged, but as none of them ever came out of the dark elves torture chambers beside the blood bowl pitch, the controversy died quickly. As, most likely, did the wood elves.
2492 DungeonBowl Winner: Dwarf Giants
After winning the XXXI Blood Bowl last year, the Giants had a difficult time dealing with Faragrim‘s demise and have had a terrible regular season. Only one player was unaffected and has led his team to victory again: Ironjaw. His “Inch by Inch” speech before the Dungeon Bowl Final to his team is already a classic in the Cavalvision network: “That’s a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. Literally. That’s Blood Bowl guys, that’s all it is. Now, what are you dwarfs gonna do?!”. The Raiders stood no chance.
